سُورَةُ الأَعۡلَىٰ
Surah Al-A'laa
The Most High · Meccan · 19 Ayahs
سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْاَعْلَي ١ۙ
1Celebrate the Name of your Lord, the Most Exalted,
الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰي ٢ࣕۙ
2who created and proportioned,
وَالَّذِيْ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰي ٣ࣕۙ
3who determined and guided,
وَالَّذِيْٓ اَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعٰي ٤ࣕۙ
4who brought forth the pasture
فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَا࢜ءً اَحْوٰي ٥ؕ
5and then turned it into a black scum.
سَنُقْرِي͏ٔ͏ُكَ فَلَا تَنْسٰٓي ٦ۙ
6We shall have you recite [the Quran], then you will not forget [any of it]
اِلَّا مَا شَا࢜ءَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهٗ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفٰي ٧ؕ
7except what Allah may wish. Indeed, He knows the open and what is hidden.
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرٰي ٨ۚۖ
8And We shall ease you into facility.
فَذَكِّرْ اِنْ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرٰي ٩ؕ
9So admonish, for admonition is indeed beneficial:
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَّخْشٰي ١٠ۙ
10he who fears [God] will take admonition,
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْاَشْقَي ١١ۙ
11and the most wretched will shun it
الَّذِيْ يَصْلَي النَّارَ الْكُبْرٰي ١٢ۚ
12—he who will enter the Great Fire,
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوْتُ فِيْهَا وَلَا يَحْيٰي ١٣ؕ
13then he will neither live in it, nor die.
قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكّٰي ١٤ۙ
14‘Felicitous is he who purifies himself,
وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰي ١٥ؕ
15celebrates the Name of his Lord, and prays.
بَلْ تُو͏ٔ͏ْثِرُوْنَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا ١٦ۚۖ
16But you prefer the life of this world,
وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَّاَبْقٰي ١٧ؕ
17while the Hereafter is better and more lasting.’
اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْاُوْلٰي ١٨ۙ
18This is indeed in the former scriptures,
صُحُفِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰي ١٩ࣖ
19the scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
