Surah Abasa
He frowned · Meccan · 42 Ayahs
1He frowned and turned away
2when the blind man approached him.
3And how do you know, maybe he would purify himself,
4or take admonition, and the admonition would benefit him!
5But as for someone who is wealthy,
6you attend to him,
7though you are not liable if he does not purify himself.
8But as for someone who comes hurrying to you,
9while he fears [Allah],
10you are neglectful of him.
11No indeed! These [verses of the Quran ] are a reminder
12—so let anyone who wishes remember—
13in honoured scriptures,
14exalted and purified,
15in the hands of envoys,
16noble and pious.
17Perish man! How ungrateful is he!
18From what did He create him?
19He created him from a drop of [seminal] fluid; then proportioned him.
20Then He made the way easy for him;
21then He made him die and buried him;
22and then, when He wished, resurrected him.
23No indeed! He has not yet carried out what He has commanded him.
24Let man consider his food:
25We pour down plenteous water [from the sky],
26then We split the earth making fissures in it
27and make the grain grow in it,
28as well as vines and vegetables,
29olives and date palms,
30and densely-planted gardens,
31fruits and pastures,
32as a sustenance for you and your livestock.
33So when the deafening Cry comes—
34the day when a man will evade his brother,
35his mother and his father,
36his spouse and his sons—
37each of them will have a task to keep him preoccupied on that day.
38Some faces will be bright on that day,
39laughing and joyous,
40and some faces on that day will be covered with dust,
41overcast with gloom.
42It is they who are the faithless, the vicious.
