Surah Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting Open · Meccan · 25 Ayahs
1When the sky is split open
2and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
3When the earth is spread out
4and throws out what is in it, emptying itself,
5and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
6O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.
7Then, as for him who is given his record [of deeds] in his right hand,
8he will receive an easy reckoning,
9and he will return to his folks joyfully.
10But as for him who is given his record from behind his back,
11he will pray for annihilation
12and enter the Blaze.
13Indeed he used to be joyful among his folk,
14and he thought that he would never return.
15Yes, his Lord had been watching him.
16I swear by the evening glow,
17by the night and what it is fraught with,
18by the moon when it blooms full:
19you will surely fare from stage to stage.
20What is the matter with them that they will not believe,
21and will not prostrate when the Quran is recited to them?
۩ Ayah of Sajdah
22Indeed, the faithless impugn [the Apostle],
23and Allah knows best what they keep to themselves.
24So inform them of a painful punishment,
25excepting such as are faithful and do righteous deeds: for them there will be an everlasting reward.
