Sunday Dua (4th Imam)

  1. بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

    Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm

    In the Name of Allah, the All-compassionate, the All-merciful.

  2. بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ أَرْجُو إِلاَّ فَضْلَهُ

    Bismi-llāhi lladhī lā arjū illā faḍlah

    In the name of Allah, from whom I hope for nothing but bounty,

  3. وَلاَ أَخْشىٰ إِلاَّ عَدْلَهُ

    Wa lā akhshā illā ʿadlah

    I fear nothing but justice,

  4. وَلاَ أَعْتَمِدُ إِلاَّ قَوْلَهُ

    Wa lā aʿtamidu illā qawlah

    I rely upon nothing but His word,

  5. وَلاَ أُمْسِكُ إِلاَّ بِحَبْلِهِ

    Wa lā umsiku illā bi-ḥablih

    and I cling to nothing but His Rope.

  6. بِكَ أَسْتَجِيـرُ يَا ذَا ٱلْعَفْوِ وَٱلرِّضْوَانِ

    Bika astajīru yā dhā l-ʿafwi wa-r-riḍwān

    In You do I seek sanctuary— O Possessor of pardon and good pleasure—

  7. مِنَ ٱلظُّلْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَانِ

    Mina ẓ-ẓulmi wa-l-ʿudwān

    from wrong and enmity,

  8. وَمِنْ غِيَرِ ٱلزَّمَانِ

    Wa min ghiyari z-zamān

    from the vicissitudes of time

  9. وَتَوَاتُرِ ٱلأَحْزَانِ

    Wa tawāturi l-aḥzān

    from recurrence of sorrows,

  10. وَطَوَارِقِ ٱلْحَدَثَانِ

    Wa ṭawāriqi l-ḥadathān

    from the striking of mishaps,

  11. وَمِنِ ٱنْقِضَاءِ ٱلْمُدَّةِ قَبْلَ ٱلتَّأَهُّبِ وَٱلْعُدَّةِ

    Wa mini nqiḍāʾi l-muddati qabla t-taʾahhubi wa-l-ʿuddah

    and from the expiration of the term before preparation and readiness.

  12. وَإِيَّاكَ أَسْتَرْشِدُ لِمَا فيهِ ٱلصَّلاَحُ وَٱلإِصْلاَحُ

    Wa iyyāka astarshidu limā fīhi ṣ-ṣalāḥu wa-l-iṣlāḥ

    From You do I seek guidance to that wherein is righteousness and setting aright.

  13. وَبِكَ أَسْتَعينُ فيمَا يَقْتَرِنُ بِهِ ٱلنَّجَاحُ وَٱلإِنْجَاحُ

    Wa bika astaʿīnu fīmā yaqtarinu bihi n-najāḥu wa-l-injāḥ

    From You do I seek help in that which is linked to success and favorable response.

  14. وَإِيَّاكَ أَرْغَبُ فِي لِبَاسِ ٱلْعَافِيَةِ وَتَمَامِهَا

    Wa iyyāka arghabu fī libāsi l-ʿāfiyati wa tamāmihā

    From You do I desire for the garment of wellbeing and its completion,

  15. وَشُمُولِ ٱلسَّلاَمَةِ وَدَوَامِهَا

    Wa shumūli s-salāmati wa dawāmihā

    and the covering of health and its permanence.

  16. وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ يَا رَبِّ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ ٱلشَّيَاطينِ

    Wa aʿūdhu bika yā rabbi min hamazāti sh-shayāṭīn

    I seek refuge in You, O my Lord, from the evil suggestions of the devils.

  17. وَ أَحْتَرِزُ بِسُلْطَانِكَ مِنْ جَوْرِ ٱلسَّلاَطِينِ

    Wa aḥtarizu bi-sulṭānika min jawri s-salāṭīn

    I seek protection in Your sovereignty from the injustice of the sovereigns.

  18. فَتَقَبَّلْ مَا كَانَ مِنْ صَلاَتِي وَصَوْمِي

    Fataqabbal mā kāna min ṣalātī wa ṣawmī

    So, (please) accept my past prayers and fasting,

  19. وَٱجْعَلْ غَدِي وَمَا بَعْدَهُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سَاعَتِي وَيَوْمِي

    Wa-jʿal ghadī wa mā baʿdahu afḍala min sāʿatī wa yawmī

    make my morrow and what is after it better than my present hour and my day,

  20. وَ أَعِزَّنِي فِي عَشيرَتِي وَقَوْمِي

    Wa aʿizzanī fī ʿashīratī wa qawmī

    exalt me in my clan and people,

  21. وَٱحْفَظْنِي فِي يَقْظَتِي وَنَوْمِي

    Wa-ḥfaẓnī fī yaqẓatī wa nawmī

    and protect me in my waking and sleep,

  22. فَأَنْتَ ٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظاً

    Fa-anta llāhu khayrun ḥāfiẓan

    for You are Allah, the Best Guardian,

  23. وَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

    Wa anta arḥamu r-rāḥimīn

    and You are the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

  24. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ فِي يَوْمِي هٰذَا

    Allāhumma innī abraʾu ilayka fī yawmī hādhā

    O Allah, I repudiate, before You on this day of mine

  25. وَمَا بَعْدَهُ مِنَ ٱلآحَادِ

    Wa mā baʿdahu mina l-āḥād

    and on all Sundays that follow it,

  26. مِنَ ٱلشِّرْكِ وَٱلإلْحَادِ

    Mina sh-shirki wa-l-ilḥād

    polytheism and atheism.

  27. وَأُخْلِصُ لَكَ دُعَائِي

    Wa ukhliṣu laka duʿāʾī

    I devote my supplication sincerely to You,

  28. تَعَرُّضَاً لِلإجَابَةِ

    Taʿarruḍan li-l-ijābah

    addressing myself to Your response.

  29. وَأُقيمُ عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِكَ

    Wa uqīmu ʿalā ṭāʿatik

    I observe the acts of obedience to You

  30. رَجَاءً لِلإِثَابَةِ

    Rajāʾan li-l-ithābah

    for hope of gaining Your rewards.

  31. فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ خَيْرِ خَلْقِكَ

    Faṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin khayri khalqik

    So, (please) bless Muhammad, the best of Your creation

  32. ٱلدَّاعِي إِلَىٰ حَقِّكَ

    Ad-dāʿī ilā ḥaqqik

    and the caller to Your truth,

  33. وَ أَعِزَّنِي بِعِزِّكَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يُضَامُ

    Wa aʿizzanī bi-ʿizzika lladhī lā yuḍām

    and fortify me with Your almightiness, which is invulnerable,

  34. وَٱحْفَظْنِي بِعَيْنِكَ ٱلَّتِي لاَ تَنَامُ

    Wa-ḥfaẓnī bi-ʿaynika llatī lā tanām

    protect me with Your Eye, which never sleeps,

  35. وَٱخْتِمْ بِٱلإِنْقِطَاعِ إِلَيْكَ أَمْرِي

    Wa-khtim bi-l-inqiṭāʿi ilayka amrī

    and seal my affair by acting devoutly to You

  36. وَبِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ عُمْرِي

    Wa bi-l-maghfirati ʿumrī

    and my life with forgiveness!

  37. إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

    Innaka anta l-ghafūru r-raḥīm

    Surely, You are the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate!
