المناجاة المنظومة لأمير المؤمنين الإمام علي بن أبي طالب (ع)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَحْمنِ الرَحیمْ

Bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahim

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

لَک الْحَمْدُ یَاذَا الْجُودِ وَالْمَجْدِ وَالْعُلٰی ، تَبارَکْتَ تُعْطِیْ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتَمْنَعُ

Laka al-hamdu ya dha al-judi walmajdi wal-`ula, tabarakta tu`ti man tasha'u wa tamna`u

All praise is Yours, O Possessor of generosity, glory, and loftiness; blessed are You — You give to whom You will and You withhold.

إِلٰھِی وَخَلَّاقِی وَحِرْزِی وَمَوْئِلِی ، إلَیْکَ لَدَی الْاِعْسَارِ وَالْیُسْرِ أَفْزَعُ

Ilahi wa khallaqi wa hirzi wa maw'ili, ilayka lada al-i`sari wal-yusri afza`u

My God, my Creator, my refuge, my shelter — to You, in hardship and in ease, I hasten for help.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ جَلَّتْ وَجَمَّتْ خَطِیئَتِی ، فَعَفْوُکَ عَنْ ذَنْبِی أَجَلُّ وَأَوْسَعُ

Ilahi la'in jallat wa jammat khati'ati, fa`afwuka `an dhanbi ajallu wa awsa`u

My God, though my sins are great and abundant, Your forgiveness of my transgression is greater and more encompassing.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ أَعْطَیْتُ نَفْسِیَ سُؤْلَھَا ، فَھَا أَنَا فِی رَوْضِ النَّدَامَةِ أَرْتَعُ

Ilahi la'in a`taytu nafsi su'laha, faha ana fi rawdi alnnadamati arta`u

My God, though I gave my soul its desire, here I am now grazing in the meadow of remorse.

إِلٰھِی تَریٰ حَالِی وَفَقْرِی وَفاقَتِی ، وَأَنْتَ مُنَاجاتِی الْخَفِیَّةَ تَسْمَعُ

Ilahi tara hali wa faqri wa faqati, wa anta munajati al-khafiyyata tasma`u

My God, You see my condition, my poverty, and my need, and You hear my secret whispered pleas.

إِلٰھِی فَلا تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِی وَلا تُزِغْ ، فُؤَادِی فَلِیْ فِی سَیْبِ جُودِکَ مَطْمَعُ

Ilahi fala taqta` raja'i wa la tuzigh, fu'adi fali fi saybi judika matma`u

My God, do not cut off my hope, and do not let my heart swerve — for I have a longing for the flow of Your generosity.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ خَیَّبْتَنِی أَوْ طَرَدْتَنِی ، فَمَنْ ذَاالَّذِی أَرْجُو وَمَنْ ذَا ٲُشَفِّعُ؟

Ilahi la'in khayyabtani aw taradtani, faman dha alladhi arju wa man dha ushaffi`u

My God, if You disappoint me or drive me away, then whom shall I hope in, and whom shall I take as intercessor?

إِلٰھِی أَجِرْنِی مِنْ عَذَابِکَ إنَّنِیْ أَسِیرٌ ذَلِیلٌ خَائِفٌ لَکَ أَخْضَعُ

Ilahi ajirni min `adhabika innani asirun dhalilun kha'ifun laka akhda`u

My God, shelter me from Your punishment, for I am a captive, humbled, fearful, submitting to You.

إِلٰھِی فَآنِسْنِی بِتَلْقِینِ حُجَّتِی إذَا کَانَ لِی فِی الْقَبْرِمَثْوَیً وَمَضْجَعُ

Ilahi fa'anisni bitalqini hujjati idha kana li fi al-qabri mathwan wa madja`u

My God, comfort me by prompting my proof, when the grave becomes my dwelling and resting-place.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ عَذَّبْتَنِی أَلْفَ حَجَّةٍ فَحَبْلُ رَجَائِی مِنْکَ لاَ یَتَقَطَّعُ

Ilahi la'in `adhdhabtani alfa hajjatin fahablu raja'i minka la yataqatta`u

My God, even if You punish me for a thousand years, the rope of my hope in You will never be severed.

إِلٰھِی أَذِقْنِی طَعْمَ عَفْوِکَ یَوْمَ لَا بَنُونَ وَلاَ مالٌ ھُنَالِکَ یَنْفَعُ

Ilahi adhiqni ta`ma `afwika yawma la banuna wa la malun hunalika yanfa`u

My God, let me taste the flavor of Your forgiveness on the day when neither children nor wealth will be of any benefit.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ لَمْ تَرْعَنِی کُنْتُ ضَائِعاً وَ إنْ کُنْتَ تَرْعَانِی فَلَسْتُ ٲُضَیَّعُ

Ilahi la'in lam tar`ani kuntu da'i`an wa in kunta tar`ani falastu udayya`u

My God, if You do not watch over me I shall be lost, but if You watch over me, I shall never be lost.

إِلٰھِی إِذَا لَمْ تَعْفُ عَنْ غَیْرِ مُحْسِنٍ فَمَنْ لِمُسِیئٍ بِالْھَویٰ یَتَمَتَّعُ

Ilahi idha lam ta`fu `an ghayri muhsinin faman limusi'in bilhawa yatamatta`u

My God, if You do not forgive one who does no good, then who will be there for the sinner who has indulged in his passion?

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ فَرَّطْتُ فِی طَلَبِ التُّقَیٰ فَھَا أَنَا إثْرَ الْعَفْوِ أَقْفُو وَأَتْبَعُ

Ilahi la'in farrattu fi talabi al-tuqa faha ana ithra al-`afwi aqfu wa atba`u

My God, though I have fallen short in seeking piety, here I am now following and pursuing the trail of Your forgiveness.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ أَخْطَأْتُ جَھْلاً فَطَالَمَا رَجَوْتُکَ حَتَّی قِیلَ ما ھُوَ یَجْزَعُ

Ilahi la'in akhta'tu jahlan fatalama rajawtuka hatta qila ma huwa yajza`u

My God, though I erred out of ignorance, I have hoped in You for so long that it is said of me: he does not despair.

إِلٰھِی ذُنُوبِی بَذَّتِ الطَّوْدَ وَاعْتَلَتْ وَصَفْحُکَ عَنْ ذَنْبِی أَجَلُّ وَأَرْفَعُ

Ilahi dhunubi badhdhati al-tawda wa`talat wa safhuka `an dhanbi ajallu wa arfa`u

My God, my sins have surpassed the mountain and risen higher, yet Your pardon of my sin is greater and loftier still.

إِلٰھِی یُنَجِّی ذِکْرُ طَوْلِکَ لَوْعَتِی وَذِکْرُ الْخَطَایَا الْعَیْنَ مِنِّی یُدَمِّعُ

Ilahi yunajji dhikru tawlika law`ati wa dhikru al-khataya al-`ayna minni yudammi`u

My God, the remembrance of Your bounty soothes my burning grief, while the remembrance of my sins brings tears to my eyes.

إِلٰھِی أَقِلْنِی عَثْرَتِی وَامْحُ حَوْبَتِیْ فَإنِّی مُقِرٌّ خَائِفٌ مُتَضَرِّعُ

Ilahi aqilni `athrati wamhu hawbati fa'inni muqirrun kha'ifun mutadarri`u

My God, forgive my stumble and erase my sin, for I am one who confesses, fearful, and pleading humbly.

إِلٰھِی أَنِلْنِی مِنْکَ رَوْحاً وَرَاحَةً فَلَسْتُ سِویٰ أَبْوَابِ فَضْلِکَ أَقْرَعُ

Ilahi anilni minka rawhan wa rahatan falastu siwa abwabi fadlika aqra`u

My God, grant me from You relief and repose, for I knock at no doors but the doors of Your bounty.

إِلٰھِی لَئِنْ أَقْصَیْتَنِی أَوْ أَھَنْتَنِی فَمَا حِیلَتِی یَا رَبِّ أَمْ کَیْفَ أَصْنَعُ؟

Ilahi la'in aqsaytani aw ahantani fama hilati ya rabbi am kayfa asna`u

My God, if You banish me or humiliate me, then what recourse do I have, my Lord, or what shall I do?

إِلٰھِی حَلِیفُ الْحُبِّ فِی اللَّیْلِ سَاھِرُ یُناجِی وَیَدْعُو وَالْمُغَفَّلُ یَھْجَعُ

Ilahi halifu al-hubbi fi al-layli sahirun yunaji wa yad`u walmughaffalu yahja`u

My God, the one bound in love stays wakeful at night, whispering and calling upon You, while the heedless one sleeps.

إِلٰھِی وَھَذَا الْخَلْقُ مَا بَیْنَ نَائِمٍ وَمُنْتَبِہٍ فِی لَیْلِہِ یَتَضَرَّعُ

Ilahi wa hadha al-khalqu ma bayna na'imin wa muntabihin fi laylihi yatadarra`u

My God, these creatures are divided — some asleep and some awake, pleading humbly through their night.

وَکُلُّھُمُ یَرْجُو نَوَالَکَ رَاجِیاً لِرَحْمَتِکَ الْعُظْمیٰ وَفِی الْخُلْدِ یَطْمَعُ

Wa kulluhum yarju nawalaka rajiyan lirahmatika al-`uzma wa fi al-khuldi yatma`u

And all of them hope for Your bestowal, hoping for Your immense mercy, and long for eternity.

إِلٰھِی یُمَنِّینِی رَجَائِی سَلامَةً وَقُبْحُ خَطِیئاتِی عَلَیَّ یُشَنِّعُ

Ilahi yumannini raja'i salamatan wa qubhu khati'ati `alayya yushanni`u

My God, my hope promises me safety, while the ugliness of my sins disgraces me before myself.

إِلٰھِی فَإنْ تَعْفُوْ فَعَفْوُکَ مُنْقِذِیْ وَ إلاَّ فَبِالذَّنْبِ الْمُدَمِّرِ ٲُصْرَعُ

Ilahi fa'in ta`fu fa`afwuka munqidhi wa illa fabialdhdhanbi almudammiri usra`u

My God, if You forgive, then Your forgiveness is my rescuer; otherwise, I shall be brought down by the destroying sin.

إِلٰھِی بِحَقِّ الْھَاشِمِیِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَحُرْمَةِ أَطْھَارٍ ھُمُ لَکَ خُضَّعُ

Ilahi bihaqqi al-hashimiyyi muhammadin wa hurmati athharin humu laka khudda`u

My God, by the right of the Hashimite Muhammad, and by the sanctity of the pure ones who submit before You,

إِلٰھِی بِحَقِّ الْمُصْطَفی وَابْنِ عَمِّہ وَحُرْمَةِ أَبْرارٍ ھُمُ لَکَ خُشَّعُ

Ilahi bihaqqi al-mustafa wabni `ammihi wa hurmati abrarin humu laka khushsha`u

My God, by the right of the Chosen One and his cousin, and by the sanctity of the righteous ones who are humble before You,

إِلٰھِی فَأَنْشِرْنِی عَلَی دِینِ أَحْمَدٍ مُنِیباً تَقِیّاً قَانِتاً لَکَ أَخْضَعُ

Ilahi fa'anshirni `ala dini ahmadin muniban taqiyyan qanitan laka akhda`u

My God, raise me upon the religion of Ahmad, repentant, God-fearing, devoted, submissive to You.

وَلاَ تَحْرِمَنِّی یا إلھِی وَسَیِّدِی شَفاعَتَہُ الْکُبْریٰ فَذاکَ الْمُشَفَّعُ

Wa la tahrimanni ya ilahi wa sayyidi shafa`atahu al-kubra fadhaka al-mushaffa`u

And do not deprive me, O my God and my Master, of his great intercession, for he is the one whose intercession is accepted.

وَصَلِّ عَلَیْھِمْ مَا دَعَاکَ مُوَحِّدٌ وَنَاجَاکَ أَخْیارٌ بِبَابِکَ رُکَّعُ

Wa salli `alayhim ma da`aka muwahhidun wa najaka akhyarun bibabika rukka`u

And send blessings upon them, as long as one who believes in Your Oneness calls upon You, and the righteous ones whisper to You, bowing at Your door.
