Surah Al-Alaq

اِقْرَاْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ ۝١ۚ

1Read in the Name of your Lord who created;

خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ۝٢ۚ

2created man from a clinging mass.

اِقْرَاْ وَرَبُّكَ الْاَكْرَمُ ۝٣ۙ

3Read, and your Lord is the most generous,

الَّذِيْ عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ۝٤ۙ

4who taught by the pen,

عَلَّمَ الْاِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ ۝٥ؕ

5taught man what he did not know.

كَلَّا͏ٓ اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغٰٓي ۝٦ۙ

6Indeed man becomes rebellious

اَنْ رَّاٰهُ اسْتَغْنٰي ۝٧ؕ

7when he considers himself without need.

اِنَّ اِلٰي رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعٰي ۝٨ؕ

8Indeed to your Lord is the return.

اَرَءَيْتَ الَّذِيْ يَنْهٰي ۝٩ۙ

9Tell me, he who forbids

عَبْدًا اِذَا صَلّٰي ۝١٠ؕ

10a servant when he prays,

اَرَءَيْتَ اِنْ كَانَ عَلَي الْهُدٰٓي ۝١١ۙ

11tell me, should he be on [true] guidance,

اَوْ اَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوٰي ۝١٢ؕ

12or bid [others] to Godwariness,

اَرَءَيْتَ اِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰي ۝١٣ؕ

13tell me, should he call him a liar and turn away

اَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَرٰي ۝١٤ؕ

14—does he not know that Allah sees [him]?

كَلَّا لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهِ࣢ۙ لَنَسْفَعًاۢ بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ۝١٥ۙ

15No indeed! If he does not cease, We shall seize him by the forelock,

نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِي͏ٔ͏َةٍ ۝١٦ۚ

16a lying, sinful forelock!

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهٗ ۝١٧ۙ

17Then let him call out his gang!

سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ۝١٨ۙ

18We [too] shall call the keepers of hell.

كَلَّاؕ لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۝١٩ࣛࣖ

19No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near [to Allah]!
