دعاء يوم الخميس (الإمام الرابع عليه السلام)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismillāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلَ مُظْلِماً بِقُدْرَتِهِ

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī adhhaba l-layla muẓliman biqudratihi

All praise be to Allah Who has taken away the dark night by His power

وَجَاءَ بِالنَّهَارِ مُبْصِراً بِرَحْمَتِهِ

wa jā'a bin-nahāri mubṣiran biraḥmatihi

and brought the sight-giving day through His mercy.

وَكَسَانِي ضِيَاءَهُ وَآتَانِي نِعْمَتَهُ

wa kasānī ḍiyā'ahu wa ātānī niʿmatahu

He has clothed me in its brightness and given me its favor.

اللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي لَهُ فَأَبْقِنِي لِأَمْثَالِهِ

Allāhumma fakamā abqaytanī lahu fa-abqinī li-amthālihi

O Allah, just as You have spared me for this day, so also spare me for its likes,

وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

wa ṣalli ʿalā n-nabiyyi muḥammadin wa ālihi

and bless the Prophet Muhammad and his Household,

وَلاَ تَفْجَعْنِي فِيهِ وَفِي غَيْرِهِ

wa lā tafjaʿnī fīhi wa fī ghayrihi

and afflict me not in it, nor in other

sentence continues into next segments

مِنَ اللَّيَالِي وَالأَيَّامِ

mina l-layālī wal-ayyāmi

nights and days,

continuation

بِارْتِكَابِ الْمَحَارِمِ

birtikābi l-maḥārimi

with my committing of forbidden acts

continuation

وَاكْتِسَابِ الْمَآثِمِ

waktisābi l-ma'āthimi

and my earning of sins;

continuation

وَارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَهُ

warzuqnī khayrahu

and provide me with its good,

وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهِ

wa khayra mā fīhi

the good of all that is within it,

وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ

wa khayra mā baʿdahu

and the good of all that comes after it;

وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُ

waṣrif ʿannī sharrahu

and turn away from me its evil,

وَشَرَّ مَا فِيهِ

wa sharra mā fīhi

the evil of all that is within it,

وَشَرَّ مَا بَعْدَهُ

wa sharra mā baʿdahu

and the evil of all that comes after it!

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي بِذِمَّةِ الإِسْلامِ أَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ

Allāhumma innī bidhimmati l-islāmi atawassalu ilayka

O Allah, by the protective compact of Islam I seek means of nearness to You,

وَبِحُرْمَةِ الْقُرآنِ أَعْتَمِدُ عَلَيْكَ

wa biḥurmati l-qur'āni aʿtamidu ʿalayka

and by the inviolability of the Qur'an I rely upon You,

وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ الْمُصْطَفَىٰ

wa bimuḥammadin il-muṣṭafā

and by Muhammad the Chosen One,

صَلَّىٰ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

ṣallā llāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi

Allah bless him and his Household,

أَسْتَشْفِعُ لَدَيْكَ

astashfiʿu ladayka

I seek intercession with You.

فَاعْرِفِ اللَّهُمَّ ذِمَّتِي

faʿrifi llāhumma dhimmatī

So, O Allah, recognize my protective compact

الَّتِي رَجَوْتُ بِهَا قَضَاءَ حَاجَتِي

allatī rajawtu bihā qaḍā'a ḥājatī

by which I have hoped for the fulfillment of my need,

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

yā arḥama r-rāḥimīna

O Most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

اَللَّهُمَّ اقْضِ لِي فِي الْخَمِيسِ خَمْساً

Allāhumma qḍi lī fi l-khamīsi khamsan

O Allah, decree for me on Thursday five things,

لاَ يَتَّسِعُ لَهَا إِلاَّ كَرَمُكَ

lā yattasiʿu lahā illā karamuka

which none can encompass but Your generosity,

وَلاَ يُطِيقُهَا إِلاَّ نِعَمُكَ

wa lā yuṭīquhā illā niʿamuka

and none can bear but Your favors:

سَلامَةً أَقْوَىٰ بِهَا عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِكَ

salāmatan aqwā bihā ʿalā ṭāʿatika

health through which I may have strength to obey You,

وَعِبَادَةً أَسْتَحِقُّ بِهَا جَزِيلَ مَثُوبَتِكَ

wa ʿibādatan astaḥiqqu bihā jazīla mathūbatika

worship by which I may deserve Your abundant reward,

وَسَعَةً فِي الْحَالِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ الْحَلالِ

wa saʿatan fi l-ḥāli mina r-rizqi l-ḥalāli

abundance in my state through lawful provision,

وَأَنْ تُؤْمِنَنِي فِي مَوَاقِفِ الْخَوْفِ بِأَمْنِكَ

wa an tu'minanī fī mawāqifi l-khawfi bi-amnika

and that You make me secure in the places of fear through Your security,

وَتَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ طَوَارِقِ الْهُمُومِ وَالْغُمُومِ فِي حِصْنِكَ

wa tajʿalanī min ṭawāriqi l-humūmi wal-ghumūmi fī ḥiṣnika

and place me in Your fortress against the onslaughts of worries and sorrows!

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihi

Bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَاجْعَلْ تَوَسُّلِي بِهِ شَافِعاً

wajʿal tawassulī bihi shāfiʿan

and make my seeking mediation through him an interceding,

يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ نَافِعاً

yawma l-qiyāmati nāfiʿan

profiting me on the Day of Resurrection!

إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

innaka anta arḥamu r-rāḥimīna

Surely, You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
