دعاء يوم الأحد (الإمام علي عليه السلام)

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm

In the name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلہِ عَلٰی حِلْمِہٖ وَ اَنَاتِہٖ

Al-ḥamdu li-llāhi ʿalā ḥilmihi wa anātih

Praise be to Allah for His forbearance and His granting of respite,

وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلہِ عَلٰی عِلْمِیْ بِاَنَّ ذَنْبِیْ

Wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi ʿalā ʿilmī bi-anna dhanbī

and praise be to Allah that I know my sin —

وَ اِنْ کَبُرَ - صَغِیْرٌ فِیْ جَنْبِ عَفْوِہٖ

Wa in kabura — ṣaghīrun fī janbi ʿafwih

— even if it be great — is small beside His forgiveness,

وَ جُرْمِیْ - وَ اِنْ عَظُمَ - حَقِیْرٌ عِنْدَ رَحْمَتِہٖ

Wa jurmī — wa in ʿaẓuma — ḥaqīrun ʿinda raḥmatih

and my crime — even if it be great — is trifling beside His mercy.

وَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الَّذِیْ رَفَعَ السَّمٰوٰتِ بِغَیْرِ عَمَدٍ

Wa subḥāna-llāhi lladhī rafaʿa s-samāwāti bi-ghayri ʿamad

Glory be to Allah, who raised the heavens without any pillars,

وَ اَنْشَاَ جَنَّاتِ الْمَاْوٰی بِلَا اَمَدٍ

Wa anshaʾa jannāti l-maʾwā bilā amad

and brought forth the Gardens of Refuge with no term of time,

وَ خَلَقَ الْخَلَائِقِ بِلَا ظَہْرٍ وَ سَنَدٍ

Wa khalaqa l-khalāʾiqa bilā ẓahrin wa sanad

and created all creatures with no backing or support.

وَ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللهُ الْمُنْذِرُ مَنْ عَنَدَ عَنْ طَاعَتِہٖ

Wa lā ilāha illa-llāhu l-mundhiru man ʿanada ʿan ṭāʿatih

There is no god but Allah, who warns whoever turns away from His obedience,

وَ عَتٰی عَنْ اَمْرِہٖ، وَ الْمُحَذِّرُ مَنْ لَجَّ فِیْ مَعْصِیَتِہٖ

Wa ʿatā ʿan amrih, wa-l-muḥadhdhiru man lajja fī maʿṣiyatih

and rebels against His command; and who cautions whoever persists in disobeying Him,

وَ اسْتَکْبَرَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِہِ، الْمُعْذِرُ اِلٰی مَنْ تَمَادٰی فِیْ غَیِّہٖ

Wa-stakbara ʿan ʿibādatih, al-muʿdhiru ilā man tamādā fī ghayyih

and is arrogant toward His worship; who leaves no excuse for whoever goes on in his error

وَ ضَلَالَتِہٖ لِتَثْبِیْتِ حُجَّتِہٖ عَلَیْہِ

Wa ḍalālatih li-tathbīti ḥujjatihi ʿalayh

and his misguidance, so as to establish His proof against him,

وَ عِلْمِہٖ بِسُوْءِ عَاقِبَتِہٖ، وَ اللهُ اَکْبَرُ

Wa ʿilmihi bi-sūʾi ʿāqibatih, wa-llāhu akbar

and because of His knowledge of his evil end. And Allah is the Greatest,

الْجَوَادُ الْکَرِیْمُ الَّذِیْ لَیْسَ لِقَدِیْمِ اِحْسَانِہٖ اِمْتِنَانِہٖ

Al-jawādu l-karīmu lladhī laysa li-qadīmi iḥsānihi wa mtinānih

the Munificent, the Generous, whose ancient beneficence and favour

عَلٰی جَمِیْعِ خَلْقِہٖ نِہَایَۃٌ، وَ لَا لِقُدْرَتِہٖ وَ سُلْطَانِهٖ

ʿAlā jamīʿi khalqihi nihāyah, wa lā li-qudratihi wa sulṭānih

upon all His creation have no end, nor have His power and authority

عَلٰی بَرِیَّتِہٖ غَایَۃٌ، اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلٰی اَہْلِ بَیْتِہٖ

ʿAlā bariyyatihi ghāyah. Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ahli baytih

over His creatures any limit. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the People of his House,

وَ بَارِکْ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلٰی اَہْلِ بَیْتِہٖ، کَاَفْضَلِ مَا صَلَّیْتَ

Wa bārik ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ahli baytih, ka-afḍali mā ṣallayt

and bless Muhammad and the People of his House, as best You have blessed

وَ بَارَكْتَ عَلٰی اِبْرَاہِیْمَ وَ اٰلِ اِبْرَاہِیْمَ اِنَّکَ حَمِیْدٌ مَجِیْدٌ

Wa bārakta ʿalā Ibrāhīma wa āli Ibrāhīm, innaka ḥamīdun majīd

and blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim; surely You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.

اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُکَ سُؤَالَ مُذْنِبٍ اَوْ بَقَتْہُ مَعَاصِیْہِ فِیْ ضِیْقِ الْمَسَالِکِ

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka suʾāla mudhnibin abqat-hu maʿāṣīhi fī ḍīqi l-masālik

O Allah, I ask You with the asking of a sinner whom his sins have driven into the narrowness of the ways,

وَ لَیْسَ لَہٗ مُجِیْرٌ سِوَاکَ، وَ لَا اَمَلٌ غَیْرُکَ

Wa laysa lahu mujīrun siwāk, wa lā amalun ghayruk

and who has no refuge but You, and no hope other than You,

وَ لَا مُغِیْثٌ اَرْاَفُ بِہٖ مِنْکَ، وَ لَا مُعْتَمِدٌ یَعْتَمِدُ عَلَیْہِ غَیْرُکَ

Wa lā mughīthun arʾafu bihi mink, wa lā muʿtamadun yaʿtamidu ʿalayhi ghayruk

nor any helper more compassionate toward him than You, nor any support to rely upon other than You.

اَنْتَ مَوْلَایَ الَّذِیْ جُدْتَ بِالنِّعَمِ قَبْلَ اسْتِحْقَاقِہَا

Anta mawlāya lladhī judta bi-n-niʿami qabla stiḥqāqihā

You are my Master, who bestowed blessings before they were deserved,

وَ اَہَّلْتَہَا بِتَطَوُّلِکَ غَیْرَ مُؤَہِّلِیْہَا

Wa ahhaltahā bi-taṭawwulika ghayra muʾahhilīhā

and by Your grace made those worthy of them who were not worthy.

وَ لَمْ یَعُزُّکَ مَنْعٌ، وَ لَا اَکْدَاکَ اِعْطَاءٌ

Wa lam yaʿuzzuka manʿ, wa lā akdāka iʿṭāʾ

No withholding makes You mighty, and no giving impoverishes You,

وَ لَا اَنْفَدَ سَعَتَکَ سُؤَالُ مُلِحٍّ

Wa lā anfada saʿataka suʾālu muliḥḥ

and no persistent asker's request exhausts Your abundance.

بَلْ اَرَدْتَ اَرْزَاقَ عِبَادِکَ تَطَوُّلًا مِنْکَ عَلَیْہِمْ

Bal aradta arzāqa ʿibādika taṭawwulan minka ʿalayhim

Rather, You willed the sustenance of Your servants as a bounty from You upon them,

وَ تَفَضُّلًا مِنْکَ لَدَیْہِمْ

Wa tafaḍḍulan minka ladayhim

and as a favour from You with them.

اَللّٰہُمَّ کَلَّتِ الْعِبَارَۃُ عَنْ بُلُوْغِ مِدْحَتِکَ

Allāhumma kallati l-ʿibāratu ʿan bulūghi midḥatik

O Allah, expression is too weary to attain the praise of You,

وَ ہَفَتِ الْاَلْسُنُ عَنْ نَشْرِ مَحَامِدِکَ وَ تَفَضُّلِکَ

Wa hafati l-alsunu ʿan nashri maḥāmidika wa tafaḍḍulik

and tongues fall short of spreading Your praises and Your bounty.

وَ قَدْ تَعَمَّدْتُکَ بِقَصْدِیْ اِلَیْکَ وَ اِنْ اَحَاطَتْ بِیَ الذُّنُوْبُ

Wa qad taʿammadtuka bi-qaṣdī ilayk, wa in aḥāṭat biya dh-dhunūb

I have turned to You deliberately, aiming toward You, even though sins have surrounded me,

وَ اَنْتَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ، وَ اَکْرَمُ الْاَکْرَمِیْنَ

Wa anta arḥamu r-rāḥimīn, wa akramu l-akramīn

for You are the most Merciful of the merciful, the most Generous of the generous,

وَ اَجْوَدُ الْاَجْوَدِیْنَ، وَ اَنْعَمُ الرَّازِقِیْنَ

Wa ajwadu l-ajwadīn, wa anʿamu r-rāziqīn

the most Bountiful of the bountiful, the most Bounteous of providers,

وَ اَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِیْنَ، الْاَوَّلُ، الْاٰخِرُ

Wa aḥsanu l-khāliqīn, al-awwalu, al-ākhir

the best of creators. The First, the Last,

الظَّاہِرُ، الْبَاطِنُ، اَجَلُّ، وَ اَعَزُّ

Aẓ-ẓāhiru, al-bāṭinu, ajallu, wa aʿazz

the Manifest, the Hidden, the most Majestic and the most Mighty,

وَ اَرْاَفُ وَ اَکْرَمُ مِنْ اَنْ تَرُدَّ مَنْ اَمَّلَکَ وَ رَجَاکَ

Wa arʾafu wa akramu min an tarudda man ammalaka wa rajāk

and too compassionate and too generous to turn away one who set his hopes on You and longed for You,

وَ طَمِعَ فِیْمَا عِنْدَکَ

Wa ṭamiʿa fīmā ʿindak

and coveted what is with You.

فَلَکَ الْحَمْدُ یَا اَہْلَ الْحَمْدِ

Fa-laka l-ḥamdu yā ahla l-ḥamd

So to You be all praise, O worthy of all praise.

اِلٰہِیْ اِنِّیْ جُرْتُ عَلٰی نَفْسِیْ فِی النَّظَرِ لَہَا

Ilāhī innī jurtu ʿalā nafsī fi n-naẓari lahā

My God, I have wronged my own soul in caring for it,

وَ سَالَمْتُ الْاَیَّامَ بِاقْتِرَافِ الْاٰثَامِ

Wa sālamtu l-ayyāma bi-qtirāfi l-āthām

and made peace with the days by committing sins.

وَ اَنْتَ وَلِیُّ الْاَنْعَامِ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِکْرَامِ

Wa anta waliyyu l-anʿāmi dhu l-jalāli wa-l-ikrām

Yet You are the Master of bounties, Possessor of majesty and honour.

فَمَا بَقِیَ اِلَّا نَظَرُکَ لَہَا فَاجْعَلْ مَرَدَّہَا مِنْکَ بِالنَّجَاحِ

Fa-mā baqiya illā naẓaruka lahā, fa-jʿal maraddahā minka bi-n-najāḥ

Nothing remains but Your regard for it, so make its return from You crowned with success,

وَ اَجْمِلِ النَّظَرَ مِنْکَ لَہَا بِالْفَلَاحِ

Wa ajmili n-naẓara minka lahā bi-l-falāḥ

and make Your regard for it beautiful with prosperity.

فَاَنْتَ الْمُعْطِیْ النَّفَّاحُ ذُو الْاٰلَاءِ وَ النِّعَمِ وَ السَّمَاحِ

Fa-anta l-muʿṭi n-naffāḥu dhu l-ālāʾi wa-n-niʿami wa-s-samāḥ

For You are the Giver, the Bountiful, Possessor of gifts, blessings, and liberality,

یَا فَالِقَ الْاِصْبَاحِ، امْنَحْہَا سُؤْلَہَا وَ اِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَحِقَّ یَا غَفَّارُ

Yā fāliqa l-iṣbāḥ, imnaḥhā suʾlahā wa in lam tastaḥiqq, yā ghaffār

O Cleaver of the dawn, grant it its request even if it does not deserve it, O All-forgiving!

اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُکَ بِاسْمِکَ الَّذِیْ تُمْضِیْ بِہِ الْمَقَادِیْرَ

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka bi-smika lladhī tumḍī bihi l-maqādīr

O Allah, I ask You by Your Name through which You carry out the decrees,

وَ بِعِزَّتِکَ الَّتِیْ تَتِمُّ بِہِ التَّدَابِیْرَ

Wa bi-ʿizzatika llatī tatimmu bihi t-tadābīr

and by Your might through which the plans are completed,

اَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

An tuṣalliya ʿalā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad

that You bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَ تَرْزُقَنِیْ رِزْقًا وَاسِعًا حَلَالًا طَیِّبًا مِنْ فَضْلِکَ

Wa tarzuqanī rizqan wāsiʿan ḥalālan ṭayyiban min faḍlik

and grant me ample, lawful, wholesome sustenance from Your bounty,

وَ اَنْ لَا تَحُوْلَ بَیْنِیْ وَ بَیْنَ مَا یُقَرِّبُنِیْ مِنْکَ

Wa an lā taḥūla baynī wa bayna mā yuqarribunī mink

and that You place no barrier between me and what draws me near to You,

یَا حَنَّانُ یَا مَنَّانُ

Yā ḥannānu yā mannān

O Most Tender, O Most Bountiful!

اَللّٰہُمَّ وَ اَدْرِجْنِیْ فِیْمَنْ اَبَحْتَ لَہُمْ مِنْ غُفْرَانِکَ

Allāhumma wa adrijnī fī-man abaḥta lahum min ghufrānik

O Allah, enroll me among those to whom You have granted Your forgiveness,

وَ عَفْوَکَ وَ رِضَاکَ وَ اَسْکَنْتَہٗ جِنَانَکَ

Wa ʿafwaka wa riḍāka wa askantahu jinānak

Your pardon and Your good pleasure, and whom You have settled in Your gardens.

بِرَأْفَتِکَ وَ طَوْلِکَ وَ اِمْتِنَانِكَ

Bi-raʾfatika wa ṭawlika wa imtinānik

By Your kindness, Your bounty, and Your favour.

يَا اِلٰہِیْ اَنْتَ اَکْرَمْتَ اَوْلِیَائَکَ بِکَرَامَاتِکَ

Yā ilāhī, anta akramta awliyāʾaka bi-karāmātik

O my God, You have honoured Your friends with Your marks of honour,

فَاَوْجَبْتَ لَہُمْ حِیَاطَتَکَ

Fa-awjabta lahum ḥiyāṭatak

so You made Your safeguarding due to them,

وَ اَظْلَلْتَہُمْ بِرِعَایَتِکَ مِنَ التَّتَابُعِ فِیْ الْمَہَالِکِ

Wa aẓlaltahum bi-riʿāyatika mina t-tatābuʿi fi l-mahālik

and shaded them with Your care from falling successively into perils.

وَ اَنَا عَبْدُکَ، فَانْقِذْنِیْ وَ الْبِسْنِیْ الْعَافِیَۃَ

Wa anā ʿabduk, fa-anqidhnī wa albisni l-ʿāfiyah

And I am Your servant, so rescue me and clothe me in wellbeing,

وَ اِلٰی طَاعَتِکَ فَمِلْ بِيْ، وَ عَنْ طُغْیَانِکَ وَ مَعْصِیَتِکَ فَرُدَّنِیْ

Wa ilā ṭāʿatika fa-mil bī, wa ʿan ṭughyānika wa maʿṣiyatika fa-ruddanī

and incline me toward Your obedience, and turn me away from rebellion and disobedience against You.

فَقَدْ عَجَّتْ اِلَیْکَ الْاَصْوَاتُ بِضُرُوْبِ اللُّغَاتِ

Fa-qad ʿajjat ilayka l-aṣwātu bi-ḍurūbi l-lughāt

For voices have clamoured to You in every kind of language,

یَسْئَلُوْنَکَ الْحَاجَاتِ تُرْتَجٰی لِمَحْقِ الْعُیُوْبِ

Yasʾalūnaka l-ḥājāti turtajā li-maḥqi l-ʿuyūb

asking You for their needs, hoping for the effacement of faults,

وَ غُفْرَانِ الذُّنُوْبِ يَا عَلَّامَ الْغُيُوْبِ

Wa ghufrāni dh-dhunūb, yā ʿallāma l-ghuyūb

and the forgiveness of sins, O Knower of all that is unseen.

اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْتَہْدِیْکَ فَاہْدِنِیْ

Allāhumma innī astahdīka fa-hdinī

O Allah, I seek Your guidance, so guide me;

وَ اَعْتَصِمُ بِکَ فَاعْصِمْنِیْ

Wa aʿtaṣimu bika fa-ʿṣimnī

I hold fast to You, so preserve me;

وَ اَدِّ عَنِّیْ حُقُوْقَکَ عَلَیَّ

Wa addi ʿannī ḥuqūqaka ʿalayy

and discharge on my behalf Your rights that are due upon me.

اِنَّکَ اَہْلُ التَّقْوٰی وَ اَہْلُ الْمَغْفِرَۃِ

Innaka ahlu t-taqwā wa ahlu l-maghfirah

Surely You are worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive.

وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّیْ شَرَّ کُلِّ ذِیْ شَرٍّ اِلٰی خَیْرٍ مَا لَا یَمْلِکُہٗ اَحَدٌ سِوَاکَ

Wa-ṣrif ʿannī sharra kulli dhī sharrin ilā khayrin mā lā yamlikuhu aḥadun siwāk

And turn away from me the evil of every evildoer, toward a good that none possesses but You.

وَ احْتَمِلْ عَنِّیْ مُفْتَرَضَاتِ حُقُوْقِ الْاٰبَاءِ وَ الْاُمَّہَاتِ

Wa-ḥtamil ʿannī muftaraḍāti ḥuqūqi l-ābāʾi wa-l-ummahāt

And bear on my behalf the obligatory dues of fathers and mothers.

وَ اغْفِرْ لِیْ وَ لَہُمَا وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Wa-ghfir lī wa lahumā wa li-l-muʾminīna wa-l-muʾmināt

And forgive me and both of them, and the believing men and the believing women,

وَ الْاِخْوَۃِ وَ الْاَخَوَاتِ وَ الْقَرَابَاتِ

Wa-l-ikhwati wa-l-akhawāti wa-l-qarābāt

and the brothers and the sisters and the kinsfolk.

یَا وَلِیَّ الْبَرَکَاتِ وَ عَالِمُ الْخَفِیَّاتِ

Yā waliyya l-barakāti wa ʿālima l-khafiyyāt

O Master of blessings, O Knower of hidden things!
