دعاء يوم الاثنين (الإمام علي عليه السلام)

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانِي لِلْإِسْلَامِ

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi lladhī hadānī lil-islām

Praise be to Allah, who guided me to Islam,

وَأَكْرَمَنِي بِالْإِيمَانِ وَبَصَّرَنِي بِالدِّينِ

Wa akramanī bil-īmāni wa baṣṣaranī bid-dīn

And honored me with faith, and gave me insight into the religion,

وَشَرَّفَنِي بِالْيَقِينِ وَعَرَّفَنِيَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِي عَنْهُ يُؤْفَكُونَ

Wa sharrafanī bil-yaqīni wa ʿarrafaniya l-ḥaqqa lladhī ʿanhu yu'fakūn

And ennobled me with certainty, and made me know the Truth from which they are turned away,

وَالنَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

Wan-naba'i l-ʿaẓīmi lladhī hum fīhi mukhtalifūn

And the Great News about which they are in disagreement.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الَّذِي يَرْزُقُ الْقَاسِطَ الْعَادِلَ وَالْعَاقِلَ وَالْجَاهِلَ

Subḥāna llāhi lladhī yarzuqu l-qāsiṭa l-ʿādila wal-ʿāqila wal-jāhil

Glory be to Allah, who provides for the just, the sensible, and the ignorant alike,

"al-qāsiṭ" here means one who is just/equitable, in contrast with "al-ʿādil".

وَيَرْحَمُ السَّاهِيَ وَالْغَافِلَ فَكَيْفَ الدَّاعِيَ السَّائِلَ

Wa yarḥamu s-sāhiya wal-ghāfila fa-kayfa d-dāʿiya s-sā'il

And has mercy on the inadvertent and the heedless; so how then [would He treat] the one who calls and asks?

وَلَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ اللَّطِيفُ بِمَنْ شَرَدَ عَنْهُ مِنْ مُسْرِفِي عِبَادِهِ

Wa lā ilāha illa llāhu l-laṭīfu biman sharada ʿanhu min musrifī ʿibādih

And there is no god but Allah, the Kind toward those among His extravagant servants who have strayed from Him,

لِيَرْجِعَ عَنْ عُتُوِّهِ وَعِنَادِهِ

Li-yarjiʿa ʿan ʿutuwwihi wa ʿinādih

So that they may return from their defiance and stubbornness.

الرَّاضِي مِنَ الْمُنِيبِ الْمُخْلِصِ بِدُونِ الْوُسْعِ وَالطَّاقَةِ

Ar-rāḍī mina l-munībi l-mukhliṣi bidūni l-wusʿi waṭ-ṭāqah

Who is pleased with the sincere, turning servant even with little capacity or strength.

وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ نَوْعٍ مِنْ غَوَامِضِ تَقْدِيرِهِ وَحُسْنِ تَدْبِيرِهِ دَلِيلٌ وَاضِحٌ

Wa ʿalā kulli nawʿin min ghawāmiḍi taqdīrihi wa ḥusni tadbīrihi dalīlun wāḍiḥ

And in every kind of His mysterious decrees and His beautiful management, there is a clear proof,

وَشَاهِدُ عَدْلٍ يَقْضِيَانِ لَهُ بِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِ

Wa shāhidu ʿadlin yaqḍiyāni lahu bil-waḥdāniyyah

And a just witness; both testify to His Oneness.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا مَنْ يَصْرِفُ الْبَلَايَا وَيَعْلَمُ الْخَفَايَا وَيُجْزِلُ الْعَطَايَا

Allāhumma innī as'aluka yā man yaṣrifu l-balāyā wa yaʿlamu l-khafāyā wa yujzilu l-ʿaṭāyā

O Allah, I ask You—O He who turns away afflictions, knows the hidden secrets, and gives abundant gifts,

سُؤَالَ نَادِمٍ عَلَىٰ اقْتِرَافِ الْآثَامِ وَسَالِمٍ عَلَى الْمَعَاصِي مِنَ اللَّيَالِي وَالْأَيَّامِ

Su'āla nādimin ʿalā-qtirāfi l-āthāmi wa sālimin ʿala l-maʿāṣī mina l-layālī wal-ayyām

The asking of one who is regretful over committing sins and who has been constant in disobedience through the nights and days,

إِذْ لَمْ يَجِدْ مُجِيرًا سِوَاكَ لِغُفْرَانِهَا وَلَا مَوْئِلًا يَفْزَعُ إِلَيْهِ لِارْتِجَاءِ كَشْفِ فَاقَتِهِ إِلَّا إِيَّاكَ

Idh lam yajid mujīran siwāka li-ghufrānihā wa lā maw'ilan yafzaʿu ilayhi li-rtijā'i kashfi fāqatihi illā iyyāk

Since he finds no protector other than You for their forgiveness, nor any refuge to flee to in hope of relieving his poverty, except You.

يَا جَلِيلُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي عَمَّ الْخَلَائِقَ مَنُّكَ وَغَمَرَتْهُمْ سَعَةُ رَحْمَتِكَ

Yā jalīlu anta lladhī ʿamma l-khalā'iqa mannuka wa ghamarathum saʿatu raḥmatik

O Majestic One, You are the one whose favor encompasses all creatures, and the vastness of Your mercy has overwhelmed them.

وَسَوَّغَتْهُمْ سَوَابِغُ نِعْمَتِكَ

Wa sawwaghathum sawābighu niʿmatik

And Your profuse blessings have made life pleasant for them.

يَا كَرِيمَ الْمَآبِ وَالْجَوَادُ الْوَهَّابُ وَالْمُنْتَقِمُ مِمَّنْ عَصَاهُ بِأَلِيمِ الْعَذَابِ

Yā karīma l-ma'ābi wal-jawādu l-wahhābu wal-muntaqimu mimman ʿaṣāhu bi-alīmi l-ʿadhāb

O Noble in Return, the Generous, the Bestower, and the Avenger against those who disobey Him with painful punishment.

دَعَوْتُكَ مُقِرًّا بِالْإِسَاءَةِ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي إِذْ لَمْ أَجِدْ مَلْجَأً أَلْجَأُهُ إِلَيْهِ فِي اغْتِفَارِ مَا اكْتَسَبْتُ مِنَ الْآثَامِ

Daʿawtuka muqirran bil-isā'ati ʿalā nafsī idh lam ajid malja'an alja'uhu ilayhi fi-ghtifāri mā-ktasabtu mina l-āthām

I call upon You, admitting to the wrong I have done to myself, since I found no shelter to turn to for the pardon of the sins I have earned.

يَا خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتُدْعِيَ لِبَذْلِ الرَّغَائِبِ وَأَنْجَحَ مَأْمُولٍ لِكَشْفِ الْكَوَارِبِ

Yā khayra mani-studʿiya li-badhli r-raghā'ibi wa anjaḥa ma'mūlin li-kashfi l-kawārib

O Best of those called upon to grant desires, and most successful of those hoped for to remove distress.

لَكَ عَنَتِ الْوُجُوهُ فَلَا تَرُدَّنِي مِنْكَ بِالْحِرْمَانِ إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تَشَاءُ وَتَحْكُمُ مَا تُرِيدُ

Laka ʿanati l-wujūhu fa-lā taruddannī minka bil-ḥirmāni innaka tafʿalu mā tashā'u wa taḥkumu mā turīd

Before You all faces are humbled, so do not turn me away with deprivation; indeed You do what You will and decree what You intend.

إِلَٰهِي وَسَيِّدِي وَمَوْلَايَ أَيَّ رَبٍّ أَرْتَجِيهِ أَمْ أَيَّ إِلَٰهٍ أَقْصُدُهُ

Ilāhī wa sayyidī wa mawlāya ayya rabbin artajīhi am ayya ilāhin aqṣuduh

My God, my Master, and my Guardian, what other Lord could I hope for, or what other deity could I turn to?

إِذَا أَلَمَّ بِيَ النَّدَمُ وَأَحَاطَتْ بِيَ الْمَعَاصِي وَنَكَائِبُ خَوْفِ النِّقَمِ

Idhā alamma biya n-nadamu wa aḥāṭat biya l-maʿāṣī wa nakā'ibu khawfi n-niqam

When regret strikes me, and sins and the calamities of the fear of punishment surround me.

وَأَنْتَ وَلِيُّ الصَّفْحِ وَمَأْوَى الْكَرَمِ

Wa anta waliyyu ṣ-ṣafḥi wa ma'wa l-karam

While You are the Master of Pardon and the Abode of Generosity.

إِلَٰهِي أَتُقِيمُنِي مَقَامَ الْهَلَكَةِ وَأَنْتَ جَمِيلُ السِّتْرِ

Ilāhī atuqīmunī maqāma l-halakati wa anta jamīlu s-sitr

My God, would You place me in a state of destruction when You are the Beautiful Veiler (of faults)?

وَتَسْأَلُنِي عَنِ اقْتِرَافِي عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِ الْأَشْهَادِ وَقَدْ مَحَبَّتِ السِّتْرِ

Wa tas'alunī ʿani-qtirāfī ʿalā ru'ūsi l-ash-hādi wa qad maḥabbati s-sitr

And would You question me about my crimes in front of all witnesses, even though You are the One who provides the hidden veils of protection?

This line has some textual variation across manuscripts; rendered here per the given transliteration.

فَإِنْ كُنْتُ إِلَٰهِي مُسْرِفًا عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي مُخْطِئًا عَلَيْهَا بِانْتِهَاكِ الْحُرُمَاتِ

Fa-in kuntu ilāhī musrifan ʿalā nafsī mukhṭi'an ʿalayhā bi-ntihāki l-ḥurumāt

For even if I have been extravagant against myself, and erring against it by violating sanctities,

نَاسِيًا لِمَا اجْتَرَمْتُ مِنَ الْهَفَوَاتِ فَأَنْتَ لَطِيفٌ تَجُودُ عَلَى الْمُسْرِفِينَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

Nāsiyan limā-jtaramtu mina l-hafawāti fa-anta laṭīfun tajūdu ʿala l-musrifīna bi-raḥmatik

Being forgetful of the slips and errors I have committed, You are Kind, granting Your mercy to the extravagant.

وَتَتَفَضَّلُ عَلَى الْخَاطِئِينَ بِكَرَمِكَ فَارْحَمْنِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Wa tatafaḍḍalu ʿala l-khāṭi'īna bi-karamika fa-rḥamnī yā arḥama r-rāḥimīn

And You favor the sinners with Your generosity; so have mercy on me, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

فَإِنَّكَ تُسَكِّنُ يَا إِلَٰهِي بِتَحَنُّنِكَ رَوْعَاتِ قُلُوبِ الْوَجِلِينَ

Fa-innaka tusakkinu yā ilāhī bi-taḥannunika rawʿāti qulūbi l-wajilīn

For You, my God, through Your love, calm the fears of the hearts of the frightened.

وَتُحَقِّقُ بِتَطَوُّلِكَ أَمَلَ الْآمِلِينَ وَتُفِيضُ سِجَالَ عَطَايَاكَ عَلَىٰ غَيْرِ الْمُسْتَأْهِلِينَ

Wa tuḥaqqiqu bi-taṭawwulika amala l-āmilīna wa tufīḍu sijāla ʿaṭāyāka ʿalā ghayri l-musta'hilīn

And You fulfill, through Your favor, the expectations of those who hope, and pour out the buckets of Your gifts even upon those who are undeserving.

فَآمِنِّي بِرَجَاءٍ لَا يَشُوبُهُ قُنُوطٌ وَأَمَلٍ لَا يُكَدِّرُهُ بَأْسٌ

Fa-āminnī bi-rajā'in lā yashūbuhu qunūṭun wa amalin lā yukaddiruhu ba's

So grant me security with a hope not tainted by despair, and an expectation not clouded by misery.

يَا مُحِيطًا بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا وَقَدْ أَصْبَحْتُ سَيِّدِي وَأَمْسَيْتُ عَلَىٰ بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ مِنَحِكَ سَائِلًا

Yā muḥīṭan bi-kulli shay'in ʿilman wa qad aṣbaḥtu sayyidī wa amsaytu ʿalā bābin min abwābi minaḥika sā'ilan

O He who encompasses everything in knowledge; I have entered the morning and the evening, my Master, as a beggar at one of the doors of Your gifts.

وَعَنِ التَّعَرُّضِ لِسِوَاكَ بِالْمَسْأَلَةِ عَادِلًا

Wa ʿani t-taʿarruḍi li-siwāka bil-mas'alati ʿādilan

Turning away from asking anyone other than You.

وَلَيْسَ مِنْ جَمِيلِ امْتِنَانِكَ رَدُّ سَائِلٍ مَأْسُورٍ مَلْهُوفٍ وَمُضْطَرٍّ لِانْتِظَارِ خَيْرِكَ الْمَأْلُوفِ

Wa laysa min jamīli mtinānika raddu sā'ilin ma'sūrin malhūfin wa muḍṭarrin li-ntiẓāri khayrika l-ma'lūf

And it is not like Your beautiful grace to turn away a captive, grieving, and distressed petitioner who waits for Your accustomed goodness.

إِلَٰهِي أَنْتَ الَّذِي عَجَزَتِ الْأَوْهَامُ عَنِ الْإِحَاطَةِ بِكَ وَكَلَّتِ الْأَلْسُنُ عَنْ نَعْتِ ذَٰلِكَ

Ilāhī anta lladhī ʿajazati l-awhāmu ʿani l-iḥāṭati bika wa kallati l-alsunu ʿan naʿti dhālik

My God, You are the one whom imaginations fail to encompass, and tongues grow weary of describing Your Essence.

فَبِآلَائِكَ وَطَوْلِكَ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي

Fa-bi-ālā'ika wa ṭawlika ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin wa-ghfir lī dhunūbī

So by Your bounties and Your power, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and forgive me my sins.

وَأَوْسِعْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْوَاسِعِ رِزْقًا وَاسِعًا حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا فِي عَافِيَةٍ وَأَقِلْنِيَ الْعَثْرَةَ

Wa awsiʿ ʿalayya min faḍlika l-wāsiʿi rizqan wāsiʿan ḥalālan ṭayyiban fī ʿāfiyatin wa aqilniya l-ʿathrah

And expand for me, from Your vast favor, a wide, lawful, and good sustenance in well-being, and forgive my stumbling.

يَا غَايَةَ الْآمِلِينَ وَجَبَّارَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرَضِينَ وَالْبَاقِي بَعْدَ فَنَاءِ الْخَلْقِ أَجْمَعِينَ وَدَيَّانَ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ

Yā ghāyata l-āmilīna wa jabbāra s-samāwāti wal-araḍīna wal-bāqī baʿda fanā'i l-khalqi ajmaʿīna wa dayyāna yawmi d-dīn

O Ultimate Goal of the hopeful, Compeller of the heavens and the earths, the One who remains after the annihilation of all creation, and the Judge of the Day of Judgment.

وَأَنْتَ يَا مَوْلَايَ ثِقَةُ مَنْ لَمْ يَثِقْ بِنَفْسِهِ لِإِفْرَاطِ خَلَلِهِ

Wa anta yā mawlāya thiqatu man lam yathiq bi-nafsihi li-ifrāṭi khalalih

And You, my Master, are the reliance of him who does not trust himself due to the excess of his flaws.

وَأَمَلُ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ تَأْمِيلٌ لِكَثْرَةِ زَلَلِهِ وَرَجَاءُ مَنْ لَمْ يَرْتَجِ لِنَفْسِهِ بِوَسِيلَةِ عَمَلِهِ

Wa amalu man lam yakun lahu ta'mīlun li-kathrati zalalihi wa rajā'u man lam yartaji li-nafsihi bi-wasīlati ʿamalih

The hope of him who has no hope due to the frequency of his slips, and the expectation of him who finds no hope for himself through his own deeds.

إِلَٰهِي فَأَنْقِذْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْمَهَالِكِ وَأَحْلِلْنِي دَارَ الْأَخْيَارِ

Ilāhī fa-anqidhnī bi-raḥmatika mina l-mahāliki wa aḥlilnī dāra l-akhyār

My God, rescue me by Your mercy from the places of destruction, and settle me in the abode of the chosen ones.

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنْ مُرَافِقِي الْأَبْرَارِ وَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ

Wa-jʿalnī min murāfiqi l-abrāri wa-ghfir lī dhunūba l-layli wan-nahār

Make me among the companions of the righteous, and forgive me the sins of the night and the day.

يَا مُطَّلِعًا عَلَى الْأَسْرَارِ احْتَمِلْ عَنِّي مَوْلَايَ أَدَاءَ مَا افْتَرَضْتَ عَلَيَّ

Yā muṭṭaliʿan ʿala l-asrāri-ḥtamil ʿannī mawlāya adā'a mā-ftaraḍta ʿalayy

O Knower of secrets, fulfill on my behalf, my Master, the duties You made obligatory upon me,

لِلْآبَاءِ وَالْأُمَّهَاتِ وَالْإِخْوَانِ وَالْأَخَوَاتِ بِلُطْفِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

Lil-ābā'i wal-ummahāti wal-ikhwāni wal-akhawāti bi-luṭfika wa karamika yā dha l-jalāli wal-ikrām

Toward fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters, by Your kindness and Your generosity, O Owner of Majesty and Honor.

وَأَشْرِكْنَا فِي دُعَاءِ مَنِ اسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Wa ashriknā fī duʿā'i mani-stajabta lahu mina l-mu'minīna wal-mu'mināt

And include us in the prayers of those among the believing men and women whose supplications You have answered.

إِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ وَهَّابٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا

Innaka jawādun karīmun wahhābun ṣalla llāhu ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihi wa sallama taslīman

Indeed You are Generous, Noble, and the Bestower. May Allah bless Muhammad and his family and grant them perfect peace.
